Moto G5 Plus official photo leaked, confirms major design changes

There seems to be no stopping the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus leaks. Earlier this week, we saw a bunch of alleged hands-on photos of the Moto G5 Plus, and now we are being treated to what is said to be an official press render. Needless to say, the overall design and look are pretty much consistent with previous leaks.

The leaked render again hints at the a design that seems to be a step up from last year’s Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus. Some of the differences include a more traditional rectangular home button up front, which will no doubt have a fingerprint sensor embedded. At the back, instead of the pill-shaped camera panel on the Moto G4, the upcoming smartphones have a circular camera panel. This panel hosts the camera lens and dual-LED flash. Below the cameras is Moto’s Batwing logo, and the renders also hint at a silver color variant.

While there’s been no official announcement yet, the next-gen Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus are widely expected to be launching sometime in March this year. Some reports also claim that Lenovo and Motorola will be present at MWC 2017 next month, and these new smartphones could be unveiled at the expo. Interestingly, the Moto G5 Plus was briefly spotted on a Romanian website with a price tag of RON 1,650 (approximately Rs 26,500). But considering the specifications, the pricing seems to be too high, which makes one wonder if it was genuine at all.

Moto G5 Plus specifications and features

Based on the rumors we have come across so far, the Moto G5 Plus is expected to feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4GB of RAM, and two storage options — 16GB and 32GB. For photography, the upcoming smartphone is expected to feature a 16-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. It is also likely to feature a 3,080mAh battery, and run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box.

The Moto G5 too is expected to come with a similar set of features, albeit with a couple of changes. For one, there will be no fingerprint sensor on this variant. It is also expected to have just one storage variant (16GB), and a 13-megapixel snapper at the back.
