Honor to launch 'Epic' smartphone at CES 2017 on January 3rd


Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has reveled that it will launch a new smartphone called ‘epic’ at CES 2017 on January 3 at Las Vegas. While details are scarce, PhoneArena claims that the smartphone will feature a dual camera setup similar to one on the Honor 8.

Honor has seen some major launches recently, including the like of Honor 6X and Honor Magic, which was launched in China. The Honor Magic sports a metal frame with curved edges and a double 3D glass at the front and back tapering towards the edges.

Honor Magic specifications and features

The Honor Magic flaunts a 5.09-inch QHD AMOLED display with 2560x1440pixels resolution and pixel density of 577ppi. Under the hood runs the Kirin 950octa-core SoC clocked at 2.3GHz paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.

On the photography department, it comes with 12-megapixel dual rear cameras with aperture f/2.2. Up front is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.Armed with a 2,900mAh battery, connectivity options on the smartphone include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and GPS. On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

In other news Honor has also confirmed that it will be rolling out Android Nougat updates to the Honor 8 and considering Honor is launching the ‘Epic’smartphone around the same time, we can expect the Epic smartphone to also launch with Android Nougat out-of-the-box.
