Samsung Galaxy J1 4G with Super AMOLED display, 4G VoLTE launched in India, priced at Rs 6,890: Specifications, features


Adding to its affordable range of Galaxy J smartphones, Samsung has launched the Galaxy J1 4G. The Samsung Galaxy J1 4G succeeds last year’s Galaxy J1 (2016), with the upgrades primarily being in terms of the former supporting 4G VoLTE, a better processor and a superior camera. Priced at Rs 6,890, the smartphone has been manufactured in India under the Make in India initiative. It is available in three colors, namely, champagne, black and white. The smartphone has been listed on Samsung’s official website and can be bought off it as well.

Also, considering to make its product more India specific, the Samsung Galaxy J1 4G comes with some features exclusive for the Indian market. It comes with S bike mode.

The Galaxy J1 4G also comes with an S Power Planning feature that lets users reserve the phone’s battery for calls, extend battery life by choosing the Ultra Power Saving mode or forward calls to another number if the charge is too low. Also, there is an ultra data saving mode, which according to Samsung allows user to save up to 50 percent data saving. The UDS initiative was introduced first in the Samsung Galaxy J2, and along with delivering up to 50 percent data saving, it apparently also frees up RAM by 11 percent. 

Samsung Galaxy J1 4G specifications and features 

Samsung Galaxy J1 4G features 4.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 480×800 pixels resolution. Under the hood is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage, which is expandable up to 128GB using a microSD card. On the photography front, the smartphone sports a 5-megapixel primary camera with auto-focus and flash, and a 2-megapixel front-facing sensor.

For connectivity, the handset includes features like dual-SIM (micro+micro) support, a USB 2.0 port, GPS, Glonass, 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz, Bluetooth v4.1. Fuelling the smartphone is a 2050mAh battery, which Samsung claims can offer up to 10 hours of internet usage time on LTE, and a talk time of up to 12 hours. The device runs on Android-based operating system, however, Android version is not mentioned on Samsung's website. But we expect it to be Android Lollipop since it was launched with Lollipop OS globally.
