We all know LG is readying to unveil its flagship device of the year, the G6. Now, LG has released a new trailer where it asks people what the “ideal smartphone” would be. And that trailer teases a caricature of a smartphone that would contain of all those characteristics of an ideal smartphone. Naturally, in the teaser LG does not reveal which smartphone is it talking about, however, considering LG recently confirmed the launch of the G6 at MWC 2017, so it is safe to assume that all these hints are being thrown at the upcoming LG G6.
LG has already revealed that the G6 will feature a QHD+ 5.7-inch panel, which will have a resolution of 1440×2880 with 564 PPI, and an 18:9 aspect ratio. This is higher than the conventional QHD LCDs, which have a pixel density of 538 PPI. LG says that the display will be optimized for multitasking and using dual-screen functions.
LG has already unveiled the world’s first QHD+ LCD display with an 18:9 aspect ratio for smartphones, and the company claims that the display will help in achieving thinner and lighter smartphones due to the absence of Touch Cover Glass, which makes the LCD display module less than 1mm thick, and has reduced bezel width by 0.2mm (20 percent) on top, and by 0.54mm (10 percent) on the left and right sides, compared to conventional QHD LCDs. The display also improves outdoor visibility by increasing transmittance by 10 percent, while reducing power consumption by 30 percent.
LG has also confirmed that the G6 will not have the modular functionality as on the G5. It’s worth noting that LG’s experiment with the modular functionality didn’t really pay off as the smartphone failed to woo customers. The company also was criticized for shoddy implementation of the modular functionality in the G5.
LG G6 Specifications and features
Coming back to the LG G6, we also know that the smartphone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 processor, making it one of the first smartphones to run the processor. The smartphone could come with 6GB of RAM, however its storage information is still unknown. There also have been rumors that suggest that the LG G6 would come with iPhone 7 Plus-like dual-camera module with flash for more depth-of-field that creates bokeh effect in images.
The smartphone is also said to feature a removable battery, and come with Quick Charge 4.0 that is claimed to provide power for five to hours with five minutes of charging. It is also rumored that the smartphone might come with support for wireless charging. For connectivity, the LG G6 smartphone could offer support for USB Type-C. LG will also retain the 3.5mm headphone jack which will be placed on the top right. The LG G6 is also said to be water-resistant and come with a metal and glass body.
