Samsung Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+ prices revealed, along with more color options



Samsung opted to skip its usual Barcelona unveiling, and it won’t be much longer until we can get our hands on the most anticipated Android smartphone of the year. Now that the dust has settled from Mobile World Congress, we can turn our attention to the next big thing: Samsung’s Galaxy S8 event. In the meantime, we’ve seen a barrage of leaks and renders featuring the unannounced handsets. Now, images of the alleged Galaxy S8 smartphone have leaked, featuring different color options.

Coming from famous leakster Evans Blass, this time the leaks shows images of Samsung’s flagship phone in different color variants. The smartphones will be available in three colors: Black Sky, Orchid Grey, and Arctic Silver. Alternately, slashleaks has also leaked images of what is said to be dummy models of the black variant of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

Evans Blass goes a step further and confirms the price of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. According to the leak, the Galaxy S8 will retail at a 799 Euros which is approximately Rs 56,200, while the Galaxy S8+ will sell for 899 Euros which is approximately Rs 63,200. He has also revealed the prices of some accessories that are expected to go on sale alongside the smartphones. The DeX docking station is said to cost 150 Euros (Rs 10,500 approximately) and a new GearVR headset and Gear 360 camera which will cost around 129 Euros (Rs 9,000) and 229 Euros (Rs 16,100) respectively. However, these are just rumors and we suggest you to take this information with a pinch of salt. The pre-orders for the new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ is expected to start from April 10 with first global shipments beginning April 21.

It is interesting to note that according to a recent leak, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus are also anticipated to come in seven different colors: gold, silver, orchid, blue, matte black, jet black, and pink. However, the availability of these is expected to vary depending on the market of launch.
The latest leaks confirm nothing new. And going in line with the previous leaks, the Galaxy S8 smartphone shows off really thin bezels and the curved display on the sides as well. The home button may be embedded underneath the front glass panel. Rumors suggests that the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will ship with a power button placed on the right side and volume button and Bixby AI keys placed on the left side of the smartphone.

From what we know so far, the Galaxy S8, which is said to be the smaller variant is expected to feature a 5.8-inch display while the Galaxy S8+ is likely to come with a 6.2-inch display. Samsung is planning to use Super AMOLED displays with narrow bezels for its flagship smartphones. At the heart, the smartphones will be powered by the newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, making them the first smartphones to run the processor. While the new processor promises 27 percent more performance with 40 percent less power consumption, it will also offer 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of internal storage. 

For photography enthusiasts, the smartphones will come with 12-megapixel dual-pixel rear camera with LED flash, while  at the front there will be an 8-megapixel auto-focus selfie camera. Armed with a 3,250mAh battery, both the smartphones are said to run Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box with TouchWiz layered on top. Rumors have also confirmed that the smartphone will not kill the 3.5mm audio jack like the iPhone 7 and will also feature USB Type-C for charging and data transfers, along with fast charging.

Apart from this, Samsung ’s digital assistant Bixby will also be making its debut, which will take on Google Assistant and Apple Siri. The feature will allow users to conduct virtual searches through built-in optical character recognition, capable of recognizing text and identify objects when the camera is pointed at them.

Samsung is expected to host an ‘Unpacked’ event on March 29, where it will officially take the wraps off the new Galaxy smartphones.
