Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones and they look good. While not surprisingly, both smartphones boast top-of-the-line specifications and features, there’s one aspect that is worth noting. Both Samsung smartphones feature Bluetooth 5.0. Launched back in June last year, it is the successor to Bluetooth 4.2.
Bluetooth 5.0 offers two times the speed, and up to four times more range compared to previous Bluetooth standards. It will also increase the connectionless data broadcast capacity by eight times. Thanks to Bluetooth 5.0, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ also boast dual audio feature. What this means is, you will be able to stream music to two sets of wireless speakers at the same time, as well as control volume on each peripheral independently.
Apart from that Bluetooth 5 isn’t just about being faster and longer-range than before – it’ll also help facilitate additional location-based functionality. It also results in significantly improved indoors navigation. Bluetooth 5.0 reduces the time required for transmitting and receiving data, and helps in reliable over-the-air firmware updates for mobile devices and fast upload.
The smartphones will be offered in five different color variants – midnight black, arctic silver, orchid gray, maple gold and coral blue. Pre-orders begin tomorrow in select markets, and will go on sale starting April 21. However, there is no word on Indian availability yet.
