Samsung Galaxy S8 power bank with 5,100mAh capacity, DeX Station leaked

After every little detail about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 is out in public domain, information on the official accessories are flowing in ahead of the launch in the next week. The newest to join the list of Samsung Galaxy S8 accessories is a 5,100mAh capacity power bank. The official power bank with model number EB-PG950 has surfaced online in grey and blue color choices. It is reportedly priced at 69.99 Euros (approximately Rs 4,950).

To put into perspective, the model number for the upcoming Galaxy S8 is SM-950 which makes the power bank an official accessory for the smartphone. The power bank, leaked courtesy of Roland Quandt, features a USB Type-C port for charging and has 15W Fast Charging capabilities. The power bank further comes with a wrist lanyard for ease-of-use. It comes with a single port for charging output, and a physical button/charging indicator.

If the leaked images are to be believed, the power bank in itself is quite aesthetically pleasing, matching up to the design language of the new Galaxy S8 smartphone. With a convex-shaped design, the power bank resembles a bullet if you look at it from the sides.

The power bank is in addition to a range of other accessories leaked recently which includes a 2,600mAh backpack for on-the-go charging, and a multimedia dock for enhanced connectivity options. It is expected that Samsung will be bundling new AKG earphones with the upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The rumors about the bundled earphones came shortly after the company announced that it will be bringing AKG-tuned audio to its future Galaxy smartphones, SamMobile reports. This would essentially make the Galaxy S8 lineup the first set of smartphones by Samsung to come bundled with the AKG earphones. There have also been new cases for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, in addition to standard screen protector, Clear Cover, Clear View Cover, Keyboard Cover, and LED View Cover Case. There will also be a premium Protective Cover with Alcantara leather.

Separately, Winfuture has leaked the much rumoured continuum-like device called DeX (short for desktop experience). It is essentially a dock station that allows you to connect your Galaxy S8 to an external monitor, mouse, and keyboard, and use it on the big screen for improved productivity. The DeX station features two USB Type-A ports, one Ethernet port, one USB Type-C port, one HDMI port, and a built-in fan. The Ethernet port is rated for 100Mbps, while the USB Type-A ports use 2.0 speeds. It is reportedly priced at EUR 149 (roughly Rs. 10,500); similar to what Evan Blass had earlier reported.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are expected to house battery capacities of 3,250mAh and 3,500mAh respectively. Given that there are more battery-related accessories, it seems that the built-in battery won’t suffice when it comes to exploiting the smartphones to their maximum capabilities.

Samsung will be launching its new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones at an event in New York on March 29. The new flagship smartphones are expected to turn the attention of consumers and analysts away from the Galaxy Note 7 blunder last year. These will also be the company’s first smartphones to feature Samsung’s answer to Siri, called Bixby. With Qualcomm’s most advanced Snapdragon 835 SoC at their hearts, these smartphones are likely to be priced at 799 Euros (approximately Rs 56,200) and 899 Euros (approximately Rs 63,200).
