Nokia 3310 with Month-long battery life, snake game launched at MWC 2017


At the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, HMD Global took the wraps off its next line of Nokia-branded Android smartphones including the anticipated redux Nokia 3310 which is priced at  59 Euros (Rs 4,200). Other smartphones include the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 are priced at 139 Euros (approximately Rs 9,800) and 180 Euros (Rs 12,660 approximately) respectively. The company also launched the global version of the Nokia 6, which had made its debut in China earlier this year. Nokia 3310 (2017) India sales will begin in Q2 2017, HMD Global has confirmed.

When the first Nokia 3310 was launched about 17 years ago, it sold over 100 million units for its sturdy build and exceptional battery backup. The redux Nokia 3310 at today’s event aims to reach the same level of popularity. The new Nokia 3310 has been redesigned and now offers 10 times more battery power than the original model. It boasts 22 hours of talktime and up to one month of standby. Bonus – the Snake game stays intact in the new Nokia 3310. 

To compare, the original Nokia 3310 featured a 84 × 48 pixel pure monochrome graphic display and was one of the most popular Nokia phones to come with an internal antenna. It did not feature a camera and came fuelled with a 900mAh removable NiMH battery that offered a standby time of up to 260 hours. With popular games like Snake and Pairs, the original Nokia 3310 did not feature any Bluetooth connectivity option or even built-in radio.

The Nokia 3310 sports a 2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. It features a 2.4-inch QVGA display. The handset comes with 2G connectivity, Available as both single SIM and dual SIM variants and runs on Nokia Series 30+ OS. It comes with 16MB storage and supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 32GB). It packs a removable 1200mAh battery.
