Huawei P10 press images leaked ahead of MWC 2017, Company unveils honor VR 360-Degree Camera

Ahead of its scheduled launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 this weekend, some leaked images that claim to be the official press renders of the Huawei P10 have surfaced. The renders have been leaked by trusted leakster Evan Blass. Not like we don’t know enough about the device already, but when it comes to leaks, more the merrier!

The new leak shows the purported Huawei P10 in a dark grey or if the company would like to call it, black color variant. Dovetailing previous leaks, on the front, the smartphone features a front facing camera and an earpiece on the top end, while the bottom houses a home button, which would double as a fingerprint sensor. On the right edge of the device, the volume rocker and the power button are placed, with the SIM slot featured on the left edge. At the back, the Huawei P10 features a dual-camera setup, powered by Leica, which is accompanied with a flash. Huawei has also announced a clip-on Honor VR camera that essentially allows you to capture 360-degree video using your smartphone.

Additionally, the images of the back panel reveal a metal body, and, in line with older leaks, the Huawei P10 is shown featuring a flat screen, as opposed to the dual-curved edge it was speculated to sport. This leak looks almost identical to a couple of leaked images we saw last week that also claimed to be the ‘real photos’ of the device.

While that’s all this leak has to reveal, but up till now leaks have suggested that Huawei P10 would come with a 5.5-inch flat screen display. The P10 will be powered by a Kirin 960 chipset and will come in variants with a combination of 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage, 4GB of RAM 64GB internal storage, and 6GB RAM with 128GB on-board storage. On the software front, the Huawei P10 is expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.

The company has also teased the arrival of the EMUI 5.1 OS with the launch of the P10 and P10 Plus. This means that the flagship will be preloaded with EMUI 5.1 OS, and there is little detail on what the new software brings, however MWC is not that far. The current latest OS is at EMUI 5.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat.

Leaks have also anticipated the price of the Huawei P10, suggesting the 4GB/32GB model priced at RMB 3,488 (Rs 34,100 approximately), the 4GB/64GB variant at RMB 4,088 (Rs 40,000 approximately), and the 6GB/128GB one at RMB 4,688 (Rs 45,900 approximately) respectively.

In addition to that, the Huawei P10 is expected to be launched alongside the Huawei P10 Plus at MWC 2017 on February 26. If the leaks are to be believed, the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus are going to be almost the same in terms of specification, the only difference that has been talked about till now is the difference in their screen design and the placement of the biometric authentication sensor.

While the Huawei P10 Plus will feature a dual-curved edge display like the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, the P10 will come with a flat screen. And as opposed to the fingerprint sensor and home button placed on the front on the Huawei P10, the P10 Plus’s front panel will come sans any physical button, with the fingerprint sensor placed on the rear panel.

Lastly but importantly, Huawei has announced the Honor VR camera - a clip on accessory that enables 360-degree video recording with a smartphone. The camera has been made in partnership with Insta360 and it lets you record, save, and share 360-degree videos with the help of an app made by Insta360. This camera supports 3K recording and even live streaming.

The Insta360 blog divulges little detail, with no clarity on pricing or availability, however Huawei says that the small camera accessory will launch internationally. More information will be known at MWC, where Huawei is also set to launch the Huawei Watch 2 smartwatch.
