Xiaomi Redmi 5 with 5-inch display, 4,000mAh battery spotted on TENAA

Xiaomi seems to be close to launching the successor of last year’s affordable Redmi 4 smartphone. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 has now been spotted on TENAA under the codename ‘MAE136’. As is the case with TENAA, the listing has revealed a few key specifications and features of the smartphone, as well as what it is likely to look like.

According to the images, the Redmi 5 aka MAE136 comes with a metal body, and a fingerprint scanner mounted on the back. The design of the Redmi 5 looks similar to the Redmi 3s Prime. However, the only difference can be spotted in terms of the bold antenna lines at the top and bottom of the rear panel.

From what the listing reveals, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 is likely to come with dimensions of 139×69×8.6mm. The smartphone will flaunt a 5-inch display, 4,000mAh battery, and it will boast dual-SIM capabilities. Unfortunately, rest of the information is not known at the moment.

If it really is the Redmi 5, then the smartphone will be the successor to the Redmi 4. To recall, the Redmi 4 came with a 5-inch HD display, Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB or 3GB of RAM, along with 16GB or 32GB of storage. The internal storage could be expanded using a microSD card.
